How to Reproduce Yourself

image

From Exponential 2010. Orlando, Florida.

As a leader, no matter what you do, you have to reproduce yourself. Call that person an apprentice, a shadow, or whatever you want… you’ve got to have at least one person you are bringing along. Here’s the process from Dave and John Ferguson.

1) I do. You watch. We talk.
2) I do. You help. We talk.
3) You do. I help. We talk.
4) You do. I watch. We talk.
5) You do. Somebody else watches. The process starts over.

Who is your apprentice? What are your thoughts?

  1. You are 1000% correct on this, I would dare to say that it is selfish for you not to.

  2. Hey man, this is so true!! This is exactly what I was talking about the day we had to share ideas in front of the team. I feel that if you are training others to take your place then God can call you out when He needs to. If you have no one to replace you at your current position, then how hard will it be to listen to God when He says “GO”!! That is why in the kids ministry I feel that the children’s director needs service leaders, or (because you have services saturday and sunday) leaders who are responsible for that days services. This will allow the kids director to train and also be able to step back and make changes that need to be made. Also relieving some of the load as well. Good word Pastor Randy!!
