Twittequette – Manners for Twitter

2 days ago I lost my first follower on Twitter :( I realized it happened not because I said something controversial but because I was too chatty that day. It made me think, so I came up with some manners for Twitter:

1) Twitter got its start as a micro-blogging tool. It’s great for your comments on the world and your status updates. It’s ok to use it like that as much as you want.

2) Twitter is not a giant chat room. It’s ok to reply once or twice to someone, but after that you need to move to a direct message.

3) Don’t be obnoxious about selling stuff on Twitter. If you don’t know what that means, I’m probably talking about you. I drop these types in about 2 tweets.

4) Talk about what matters to you. Comment on the world. Be as controversial as you feel like you need to be. If people unfollow you for being yourself, well, who gives a rip.

Any I left out? Leave a comment… If you don’t have a Twitter account, you need one… at least for the next 6 months until something better comes along. http://twitter.com/home
