I have a good friend who let me borrow his Nissan 350Z this week. I needed a sports car for some work related stuff so I thought I would ask him. ‘No Problem’ he said. I went by to pick up the car and the last thing he told me was to ONLY put in Super Premium gas. The Z is an expensive, fine-tuned machine that my friend worked really hard to get. It needs the BEST fuel. I wouldn’t even dream of putting anything less in the car he loaned me.
God has given us the keys to a fine-tuned machine that makes that sports car look like a piece of junk… our bodies. And get this, our fuel is FOOD! If we put junk in the tank we are going to get gunk in the system. Part of being a LIVING sacrifice means as far as it depends on us, we should take care of bodies by putting the right fuel in it (checkout Romans 12:1-2). Let’s not trash the temple.
By the way, here’s why we borrowed my friend’s car:
We had a huge ice storm hit our area this week. The power went out at my house for several hours, so we lived like pioneers cooking in the fireplace, using candles for light, etc. My kids loved it! Our inconvenience became a blessing in disguise as we were able to spend quality and quantity family time together. It has really made me count my blessings. I’ve been able to partially see how blessed I am. It’s also made me think about being around for my family as long as possible.
